Our students have been blessed this year to recieve their sacraments through Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Baptism, Reconciliation, and First Communion have been an incredible part of our students’ walk with Christ. Special thanks to our teachers who have prepared these students; especially Miss Hernandez, Mrs. Gilburt, Mr. Lagomarsino, Mrs. Alvarado, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Huerta. All of our teachers spend every day growing their faith. We cannot wait for our 8th graders to receive their Confirmation.

Congratulations to these two recent groups of IXL winners. IXL is personalized learning. With a comprehensive curriculum for our pre-k through 8th grade students, IXL offers individualized guidance and real-time analytics. Our students utilize IXL for ELA, math, science, social studies, Spanish, and more. This helps our teachers to meet the unique needs of each learner.

Students at JLCCS go to Camp of the Pines when they are in the 5th grade and again in the 8th grade. Camp of the Pines is a Catholic retreat site that believes that young people will grow in their relationship with Jesus through their camp. The goal that the staff at Camp of the Pines has is to give youth the confidence and the strength they need to continue their faith journey and to help them foster healthy vocations. As a result of experiences at The Pines, campers come back to campus with a desire to live joyfully and to confidently build the kingdom of God. Here are some photos from this year’s 8th grade camp experience.

On April 25, the 3rd graders took a field trip to "Gibbs' Garden", as they are concluding their study of Botany. Mr. Gibbs has a greenhouse and starts all of his garden plants from seeds in early January. Mrs. Gibbs has a large variety of roses and other plants in her flower beds. The students observed all of the plants, the garden, Mrs. Gibbs' chickens and pets, and even bees and butterflies pollinating flowers.

Our virtue this month for the Little Flowers Girls’ Club is patience. These girls (and their parent helpers) practiced patience today as all of the club members were taught how to sew a simple stitch. The group also tried a game of patience by trying to slowly move their facial muscles to get an Oreo cookie in their mouth from their forehead.

Our Little Flowers Girls' Club had an amazing field trip to the Nazareth Retreat Center in Grand Prairie. Our students were able to visit with the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, learn about their order, their foundress, their history, and their faith. We were blessed to have this opportunity for our students.
