These first grade students in Mrs. Guzman's class learned about the importance of voting and created their own class election.

Our fifth grade volleyball team played two home matches this weekend. They won both games against Saint Rita's. Afterwards, they won one game, but lost two games against Prince of Peace. We also want to thank everyone who came out to cheer on the Bears! We especially want to thank our coaches and our booster club for running the concession stand.

Our 7th grade class presented their Colombian Exchange Project on the food that they researched. These students were able to see how foods were introduced from the Americas to the Old World.

Our cheer club kicked off the school year getting ready for our upcoming volleyball games.

Our second grade class is reading a nonfiction story about animals building homes this week. Mrs. Southard took her students around campus to investigate and observe out at the pond this morning.

Grandparents' Day was a success!

"As to the rest, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord.” - Philippians 3:1

Our students at our last 4H meeting were able to present to each other all of the opportunities that Navarro County 4H has to offer. It was great to listen to them present to their classmates.

Our Art Club had a great first meeting! These students love getting together afterschool to be creative.

These girls were serving up points as they hosted their Serve-A-Thon. The 5th grade team made 188 serves over the net and our varsity team made 288. We are so proud of their hard work. Our fifth grade team will compete this weekend in a tournament at St. Monica on Saturday afternoon. Go Bears!

Our US Military History Club had an exciting time at their last meeting. Students had to work with their group to solve five puzzles in an escape room type challenge. Additionally, they solved military history trivia and discussed the importance of military history and veterans.

Congratulations Madeleine on winning third place in the National Catholic Daughters of the Americas Education Contest for her computer artwork! Madeleine won locally in the CDA contest and then won first place at State.

The James L. Collins Catholic School Annual Campaign makes it possible for us to continue our mission of developing the hearts and minds of our students. With generous donations towards our Annual Campaign and disbursements from the James L. Collins Trust Fund, tuition is kept at a reasonable rate and allows the opportunity for more families to choose a Catholic education for their children.

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health. Our Book Fair is happening online now. We will have an on campus Book Fair from September 16th until September 20th. Students can shop without cash thanks to Book Fair eWallet and teachers can use eWallet to build their classroom libraries. Parents, grandparents, and friends - you can donate online for your JLCCS child through the website below.
Additionally, we are also looking for some Book Fairies: these are individuals who can donate money to eWallet and allow students to buy books who might not have an opportunity otherwise.

Today we kicked off our first Little Flowers Girls' Club meeting. These girls had a great time learning about the virtue of zeal and then working together to make loom bracelets.
