Volunteer

Parents and volunteers are valued members of our school community. The Diocese of Dallas has established a Safe Environment Program and Collins Catholic School will adhere to every directive that is a part of that plan. Since our school is blessed to have so many parents who give of their time at many times during the year, the School will now request that EVERY parent participate in the program.

As a part of the Safe Environment Program of the Diocese of Dallas, every screened individual will fill out a form, have references checked, and submit to a criminal background check. Families who have been in the parish for more than 6 months will not have to sit with the principal for an interview. Those who have been in the parish for less than 6 months, who have enrolled their children, and had a meeting with the principal prior to enrollment their children will not have to interview with the principal again.

Families that have been in the parish, school, or city for less than 6 months will not only have to comply with all of the above requirements, but also meet with the principal for an interview. This interview can in conjunction with the enrollment of new student(s) and documented on the individual’s screening form. All volunteer activities will be coordinated thorough the office. Volunteers are required to sign in at the office and receive a volunteer’s badge before reporting to their work area. Upon completion of work, volunteers must sign out in the office. Volunteers are encouraged to ask for assistance as needed. If a volunteer cannot be at school during their scheduled work time, arrangements need to be made for a substitute. Please make other arrangements for younger siblings, as they may not be brought to school during volunteer hours. At home or weekend jobs are available upon request.
