Mascot
The Mascot for James L. Collins Catholic School is the North American Black Bear . It represents bravery, power, speed, endurance and leadership. Our mascot is named after St. Bernadette and our students fondly call her "Bernie." Saint Bernadette of Lourdes was best known as a saint who received visions from the Virgin Mary in a cave near Lourdes. Pope Pius XI canonized her as a saint in 1933.
James L. Collins Catholic School has had several mascots over the years. For a number of years, CCS was the Trojans.
In 2024, JLCCS received an updated black bear costume to make Bernie less scary for our preschool students.
